I am a 30 year old wifey, born on the Bonnie Banks of Scotland, I am upping sticks and emigrating to New Zealand.

I've actually had about 3 attempts at starting a blog. You see...I've struggled about what I wanted to achieve with my blog... what do I want this blog to be about? It's not really a big deal, but I'm a little crazy so these things play on my mind.

As I will have zero friends in my new homeland, I needed to find some way of talking to someone, ANYONE. A blog seemed a good place to start ;o)

I want it to be about the new chapter in my life of getting married, turning 30 and emigrating abroad. Seems simple, but all 3 terrified me. I won't lie; I peed my pants a little.

I want it to be about how I cleared a large amount of debt from my stupid student and trainee days and ensuring that I never, EVER, get into that situation again!

I want it to be about the fun things that Mr Mars and I do - whether it be because they are free, or whether they been planned, budgeted and saved for. If they have been put on a credit card, report me to google Blogger for being a FRAUD.

I want it to be about my love of outdoors and running.

I want it to be about the fun things that I do with my family and friends. Who will no doubt be put in my blog whether they like it or not...

I want it to be about my DIY success and failures! Crafts, painting, recycling, up-cycling and in general, just being less wasteful. I like doing that kind of stuff, unfortunately I'm not very good at it and I fail. A lot. God loves a trier...

I want it to be about me getting more organised and getting my life "in order". This is a big deal for me. I do not handle stress or pressure well. AT ALL. When you are constantly living in what feels like chaos - you want to get a grip. Many nights, whilst everyone is in bed, I am up through the night packing or trying to find really important items/documents/tickets etc. I've stopped doing things that stress me out to try and get a grip on this. Seriously... I ain't lying.

I want it to be about the treats in life that get me really excited. You will know about this, as I will likely blog about them, right down to my Terry's Chocolate Orange. You only live once and whilst I want to be watchful of the pennies - unless God has a large penny jar in heaven - you can't take it with you.

And lastly, I want it to be about the general rubbish and crazy things that occupy my mind. Whether be a picture of the cutest fricken dog you have EVER seen (a puppy pug - anyone? It was like a cross between the cutest puppy ever and a frog) or an atricle that I NEED to talk to someone, anyone about. I have a forum and I am going to use it.

So what did I decide to call it Life at the Lodge House. Simple, not cryptic, not completely unrelated. Perfect (well, I think).
